Melody Burt
Melody was raised in the Puget Sound area of Washington State and lived in Salt Lake City, Utah for the last 25 years, until January 2004, when she moved to Bocas and started a new life selling real estate. The climate and landscape in Bocas is very similar to where she grew up, except Bocas is warm! YES!!!
Melody has a husband, 2 grown sons - whom she’s very proud of - and 6 adorable grand-children back in the U.S. She’s a business woman with over 20 years of experience in auditing and accounting and has traveled the world for fun and as a professional photographer and English teacher.
Besides photography and traveling, Melody has many interests, such as art, nature, non-fiction reading (as reality can knock the socks off fiction any day) and writing. Someday she hopes to write a book about her travels. One of her favorite sayings is, "so many countries, so little time!"
Mary Austin Crofts
Mary and her husband Kim discovered Bocas del Toro in 2001 and immediately began working on their dream to move here and experience island living. That dream came together in August 2004 when they moved here with their two dogs (say children).
Kim and Mary lived in the mountains of Idaho most of their lives, so moving to Bocas del Toro has been very different. They love the warmth, the snorkeling and exploring their world by boat instead of by car. They love living close to the natural world and have fallen in love with the birds, wildlife and incredible tropical plants and flowers that grow here.
Never wanting to fully retire, Mary came to work for Beyond Bocas in early 2006. Her background in marketing, advertising and a 20-year career in public service has helped her achieve much success in her quest to help people realize their dream of buying property and living in Bocas del Toro.
